Some housekeeping for deliveries before Christmas
This is a final warning for those outside of London. 2:30 pm today is your cut-off for a guaranteed delivery before Xmas. Tomorrow we shall be packing as usual, with orders going out for deliveires on Monday but weāre leaning on the side of caution. This isnāt our first rodeo.

Now wine. Iāll briefly touch on some new but old arrivals. My only critique of the wine scene here in the UK is that it is impossible to find wines I like with age. So, I snapped at the chance when a supplier offered us some maturing Burgundy.Ā Sextant ā16Ā is in a VERY good place. Alive and kickinā, ample acid, nice golden fruit. TheĀ ā17 RougeĀ is a wild beauty in its youth so itās cool to see things settle down into a tertiary treat. If youāre wondering whether you should start cellaring wine Iād get in early on these to see what a little extra snooze in bottle can do...
Wouldnāt be me if I didnāt squeeze in one more of England's finestā¦Ā Hugo ā19Ā is a benchmark bottle for Traditional Method sparkling. Biodynamic fruit and no adds at all. I did a very long product description so it must be ātrĆØs bonā. Limited. Also limited is the iconic and vinousĀ Bulle de RosĆ©Ā from Savart. No notes.

Iāll finish up with some bottles that won my heart this year. In the red department,Ā Occhipinti, Il FrappatoĀ does it again. Drinkinā this from a magnum on the 25thĀ Ā (HMU if you wanna do the same). Pinot meets the Sicilian sun. It never fails. Shout out to the whole of Sicily too. Plenty of value to be found at old faithfuls inĀ COSĀ andĀ Lamoresca.Ā GustinellaĀ is also a queen in the making.
In the white department, this year saw me visit Burgundy for the first time and I fell hard for Chardonnay. Thankfully for my wallet, I also discovered the New World can more than scratch the itch.Ā DappledĀ must get a mention. The masterful use of oak, abundant acid, the never-ending finish!Ā ThisĀ is pure hedonistic joy in a glass. To make wine this good at this price is quite frankly astonishing, BRAVO. Shout out Mount Gambier for the best value withĀ Good IntentionsĀ andĀ Moorak.
Gonna leave it there as Iām hungover and have plenty of orders to pack but writing these emails has been an utter joy and Iād like to thank you all for your support this year. You are the best customers with the best taste! See you next year.
