Morning. We're almost there, don't worry.
I'm struggling this morning. Struggling to hold in my excitement. There's some very tasty things arriving this morning. I'm just sat here, looking at the clock, counting down until it's time for me to walk down to the shop and welcome my beautiful delivery drivers with open arms.
Let's kick off proceedings in Italy, in the Abruzzo to be more precise. I'd been eyeing off some of the top booze from De Fermo for a while, and was lucky to get my beak into some last week. Suitably impressed. Fans of Emidio Pepe, as well as those who have wanted to drink such wines but looked at the prices and thought, "are you f**king kidding", may want to get clicking here. Biodynamic farming, a founder who loves Burgundian style wines (this in my experience is a very good starting point) and low-fi yet clean winemaking. I've got some 2017 Concrete Montepulciano at a very tasty price, and some 'Don Carlino' Pecorino from the same vintage floating around too. If you like texture, beautiful rusticity and wines of personality, these are for you.
Popping down the Autostrada to Montalcino now. I thought I'd have a decent chunk of this to sell today, but some keen drinkers got their eye in last night at the bar and the stock as dwindled... welcome Cerbaiona. Talk about svelte expressions. Sangiovese must relish going through this facility. Usually you'd say there's a degree of infanticide when drinking wines like this young, and that's certainly true of the Rosso di Montalcino from this producer, which would smoke most other Brunello's. Well fortunately the good folk at Cerbaiona have a second wine up their sleeve. It's a NV Rosso, with Sangiovese and Pinot Nero (Noir) in the mix. It didn't take long for several bottles to disappear last night, and I doubt it'll take long for the rest to go today. Get Clicking!
In other news that isn't Italian... There's more Patrick Piuze finally arriving today. This is a Canadian bloke working wonders in Chablis. The wines are stunning. You are stunning!
Aaand some more Dönnhoff. The bloke is a true master of sugar/acid balance. This is Kabinett Riesling, which in some instances may seem overly sweet, but in this case it's a wine that you could feasibly sip on 24/7 for the next two decades without getting bored. What a life that would be. Have a look.
There's some half decent piss open by the glass this week/end at dan's (which is now visible on google, yay!). Things from Envinate, Agnes Paquet and Chantereves are doing the rounds, amongst others. Should be alright. Come say hi. I'll be there today, and tomorrow, and the next day....
