Julien Altaber’s OG dream was to be a dairy farmer, until he made the mistake of attending agricultural school in the Mâconnais. The school had such a heavy leaning towards wine production – duh, given its location – that he couldn’t resist, bidding au revoir to his dairy dreams. He was taken under the wing of the Derains, and before long Domaine Sextant was born, when he purchased some grapes that had been on their way to a négociant. These days Julien and his partner Carole run both Sextant and Domaine Derain. Quite the step up from cows!
