For any orange wine nerds, Radikon probably needs no introduction. In 1995 in Friuli Venezia Giulia, on the Italian border of Slovenia, Stanko Radikon felt that the Ribolla Gialla variety had way more potential than was being exploited. He turned to his grandfather’s old winemaking method of skin contact, at the time just seven days, although this would grow over the years to three months. He pretty much paved the way for the natural wine movement in the area, and since his death in 2016, his son Saša is continuing the legacy – arguably making even better wines than his father. Which is saying something!
